MONDAY, APRIL 26

Version Residency Space
@ (Con)Temporary Art Space (208 S Wabash)
11:30am-5:30pm (open all week)

What would you do if you were given an empty storefront space in the Loop? This Spring, we used it as a research center, working studio, and place to hold weekly exhibitions. We also held a few screenings, promoted performance art, and sold our publications, as well as others by artists from around the world. Thanks to the Pop Up Art Loop folks for their generosity and assistance – May 1st is our last day!

Throughout Version 10, students from the MFA AKV/St. Joost (The Netherlands) will use the space for a base of operations, studio work, performance and actions.

Participating artists from MFA AKV/St. Joost include:
Bruno Listopad, Lorelinde Verhees, Manuel Suarez, Ian de Ruiter, Thomas I'anson, Daniele Marx, Dominique Teufen, Mari Stoel, Adam van Drimmelen, Emy de Rooij, Janneke Kornet, Kiki Cheng, Yiannis Papadopoulos and Mehdi- Georges Lahlou. With Instructors: Bas van den Hurk, Erik Hagoort, Marjolijn Dijkman, George Korsmit, Thomas Bakker

Stop by to see their work in progress and get information, programs, maps, and related Version ephemera.

Prom
@ Roxaboxen (2130 w 21st)
www.roxaboxenminicastle.com

6pm - 8pm Opening reception

Prom is an exhibition of work by Chicago Public School teachers organized by Albert Stabler.

There is only one major publicized art show for teenagers in the city, the All-City Art Show, and, while it serves a purpose for the students and teachers who are able to have work accepted, it has its limitations. The only criterion for inclusion in "PROM" is that the work represent a wider definition of quality (and, in fact, of what constitutes art).  The dream is that this would be the spark of a new movement of teenage art shows proliferating across the city.
