For the month of May, Ali Fezer, Diego Arispe-Bazan, Marian Frost, and Kathryn Olson transform a small storefront into Paratext Books. In addition to books, Paratext will feature magazines and other publications from local authors. The bookstore will host workshops, weekly readings, preformances, art openings, screenings and story hours for kids. Paratext will provide a cozy and inviting space for you to spend an afternoon with fine company in sundry literary pursuits.

Wednesday May 9- Bookbinding Workshop with with Nicole Coffineau

Thursday May 10 6pm- We are very excited to exhibit illustrations, prints & paintings by some of our favorite artists: Lilli Carré, Ray Borchers, Luke Pelltetier, Ramsey Beyer, Tony Jaramillo, Adam Grossi, and Edie Fake. Many of their publications and zines will be on display and for sale.

Friday May 11 6pm- Talk/discussion by Nidal Al-Azraq then a screening of the doc: Degrees of Incarceration with food and beverages

Wednesday May 16 6-9pm- readings from mash tun and signing. And free beer.

Thursday May 17 6pm- The "Secret Poster Show" Featuring the poster design work of : Ian Ferguson 

Thursday, May 24 6-9pm: "Active Forgetting" - interactive sculptural show curatated by Ali Feser and Diego Arispe-Bazan.

Wednesday, May 30 6-8pm: EAR EATER #15 and SUBURBAN DIALOGUE
EAR EATER is a semi-monthly curated reading and performance co-curated by Cassandra Troyan and Colin Winnette.

Also stay afterwords for SUBURBAN DIALOGUE -- performance art, music, and poetry produced by recent grads of Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.

Every Friday of May at 6:30pm Paratext is screening a different film as part of it's weekly series.

SATURDAYS at 10:30 Paratext is hosting storyhour for kids, see site for more information.
SUNDAYS there will be free continental breakfast with cartoons supplied.
